Product Overview

Milk is an extremely complex natural emulsion composed of lipids, casein, whey proteins, lactose, and cellular components. It is widely used in nutrition studies, immunology research, and human milk biomarker discovery. However, the unique physical and chemical properties of milk create significant difficulties during protein extraction:

1. High Fat Content Causes Emulsification Interference

The large number of milk fat globules forms a highly stable emulsion that encapsulates proteins and prevents efficient interaction between lysis reagents and target proteins. This leads to reduced protein solubility and significantly limits extraction efficiency.

2. Casein Aggregation Affecting Clarification and Separation

Casein easily forms gel-like precipitates under certain conditions, resulting in viscous, difficult-to-clarify samples. These aggregates interfere with protein purification and compromise the accuracy of downstream analyses.

3. Complex Impurity Background Impacting Analytical Performance

Milk contains various carbohydrates, lipids, small-molecule metabolites, and cell-derived impurities. Without adequate removal, these contaminants affect mass spectrometry identification, electrophoretic resolution, and the reproducibility of immunoassays.

4. Protease Activity Leading to Target Degradation

Milk contains multiple endogenous enzymes that can rapidly degrade functional proteins, immunoglobulins, and other key biomolecules if not promptly inhibited during sample processing.

Advantages

Efficient

A unique sedimentation-separation system effectively separates target proteins from casein aggregates, reducing sample viscosity and minimizing particulate interference.

✅ Compatible

The resulting protein samples are suitable for mass spectrometry, immunoassays, and quantitative protein analysis.

✅ Protective

MtoZ Biolabs' Breast Milk Protein Extraction Kit incorporates a multi-component protease inhibition system that quickly suppresses degradation reactions at the start of processing.
