MtoZ Biolabs’ Trifluoroacetic Acid (TFA), LC-MS Grade is designed to improve peptide and protein peak shape and separation performance in reversed-phase liquid chromatography. This product is widely used for peptide desalting, protein/peptide RP-HPLC separations, and mobile-phase acidification and ion-pairing system setup at the front end of LC-MS workflows.

Product Overview

In reversed-phase HPLC (RP-HPLC), the separation of peptides and proteins involves multiple physicochemical challenges, and conventional reagents often fail to meet the requirements for high-resolution separations:

1. Peak Tailing and Poor Peak Shape

Peptides/proteins carry strong charge and can undergo secondary interactions with residual silanol groups or metal sites, leading to tailing and peak broadening.

2. Broad Hydrophobicity Range and Severe Co-Elution

In complex samples, peptides vary widely in hydrophobicity, often resulting in insufficient retention or overlapping components, which compromises resolution and quantitative consistency.

3. Difficult Elution of Large or Basic Species

Proteins, peptides, and strongly basic peptides may be overly retained or incompletely eluted in reversed-phase systems, causing carryover and reduced recovery.

4. Low-Input Samples Are More Sensitive to Separation Stability

Low-abundance peptides generate weak signals, and any deterioration in peak shape or increase in baseline noise can amplify quantitative error and reduce identification rates.

Advantages

✅ High Purity

Ultra-high purity reduces background interference and lot-to-lot variation, supporting highly consistent separation performance.

✅ Exceptional Clarity

Processed with stringent filtration and impurity removal to ensure a particle-free solution.

✅ Minimal Baseline Noise (Extremely Low Background Interference)

Optimized for LC-MS, featuring very low UV absorbance and minimal mass spectrometric background noise.

✅ Strict Batch Consistency

Each lot undergoes rigorous quality control testing.
