Monocyte Activation Test (MAT)

Monocyte activation test (MAT) is an in vitro pyrogen detection method based on the activation of human monocytes or monocyte-derived cells. Pyrogens stimulate immune cells to release pro-inflammatory cytokines, which are measured as the test readout. Because this response more closely reflects the human fever mechanism, MAT can detect both endotoxin and non-endotoxin pyrogens.

MtoZ Biolabs provides Monocyte Activation Test (MAT) for pyrogen detection in biologics, pharmaceuticals, and related samples, supporting comprehensive safety evaluation through in vitro assessment of both endotoxin and non-endotoxin pyrogens.

Advantages

 Broader Pyrogen Detection Coverage

MAT enables the detection of both endotoxin and non-endotoxin pyrogens, allowing for a more comprehensive assessment of pyrogen contamination risks in complex samples.

✅ Human-Relevant Biological Response

Based on monocyte activation and cytokine release, this method provides biologically relevant results for pyrogen safety evaluation.

✅ Suitable for Complex Biological Matrices

Applicable to a wide range of sample types, including biologics, vaccines, protein therapeutics, and cell therapy-related products.

✅ Supports Animal-Free Testing Strategies

As an in vitro method, MAT supports the growing demand for alternatives to animal-based pyrogen testing in modern quality control systems.
