Product Overview

Bovine IgG is the most abundant immunoglobulin in cattle serum and the primary antibody transferred via colostrum to neonatal calves. Accurate quantification is critical for immune status evaluation, yet presents several challenges:

1. Extremely Wide Concentration Range

Bovine IgG levels vary from mg/mL in serum and colostrum to µg/mL or lower in milk and processed dairy products, demanding broad dynamic range coverage.

2. Cross-Reactivity with Other Species

Structural homology between bovine IgG and immunoglobulins from other ruminant species (sheep, goat) or other bovine isotypes (IgM, IgA) increases the risk of non-specific detection.

3. Complex Sample Matrices

Colostrum and milk contain high concentrations of fats, casein, and lactoferrin that can interfere with antigen-antibody interactions and signal readout.

4. Subclass Variability

Bovine IgG comprises two major subclasses ( IgG1 and IgG2) with distinct structural and functional properties, requiring antibodies capable of recognizing both subclasses for total IgG quantification.

5. Post-Collection Stability

IgG in colostrum and milk samples is susceptible to degradation by endogenous proteases and bacterial contamination, requiring careful sample handling to preserve analyte integrity.

Advantages

 Sensitivity

LOD reaches the ng/mL level.

Specificity

Antibodies target epitopes unique to bovine IgG heavy chain (γ chain), with minimal cross-reactivity to bovine IgM, IgA, or immunoglobulins from other species.

Precision

Intra-assay and inter-assay CVs are within acceptable limits.
