    Amidation Proteomics Service

Amidation, the enzymatic transfer of an amide group (–NH₂) to a peptide’s C-terminus, is an essential post-translational modification (PTM) in the regulation of protein function, stability, and interactions. It occurs predominantly on the C-terminal of peptides and proteins, and it has a significant impact on protein activity, signaling, and the overall proteome. This modification is often associated with neuropeptides, hormones, and cytokines, as it influences protein secretion, receptor binding, and biological half-life. Amidation is catalyzed by enzymes known as peptidylglycine α-amidating monooxygenases (PAMs), which require oxygen and a cofactor to add the amide group.
