Galactose Analysis Service

MtoZ Biolabs provides Galactose Analysis Service to help researchers, manufacturers, and clinical laboratories accurately identify and quantify galactose in a wide range of biological and industrial samples. This service supports carbohydrate characterization, nutritional assessment, and metabolic research with high precision and reliability.

    What is Galactose?

Galactose is a six-carbon monosaccharide belonging to the hexose family. It exists naturally in numerous foods and plays a vital role in human metabolism. Found mainly as a component of lactose in dairy products and present in smaller amounts in certain fruits, grains, and vegetables, galactose is essential for energy production and biosynthesis of glycoconjugates. Within living systems, it participates in critical enzymatic pathways involving galactokinase, galactose-1-phosphate uridylyltransferase, and UDP-galactose 4-epimerase, converting galactose into glucose derivatives for cellular energy utilization.

Given its biological and industrial importance, accurate measurement and structural elucidation of galactose are indispensable for nutritional analysis, clinical diagnostics, and biopharmaceutical research.

    Services at MtoZ Biolabs

MtoZ Biolabs offers a versatile suite of galactose detection and quantification solutions supported by leading analytical platforms. Each project is tailored to sample type, matrix complexity, and research objective.

    ● High-Performance Anion-Exchange Chromatography with Pulsed Amperometric Detection (HPAEC-PAD)

This platform enables direct separation and quantification of galactose and related sugars without derivatization. Through electrochemical detection, HPAEC-PAD provides excellent resolution and sensitivity, ensuring accurate sugar composition profiling in food, serum, or fermentation samples.

    ● Mass Spectrometry (MS)

Using both LC-MS and GC-MS workflows, MtoZ Biolabs identifies and quantifies galactose with exceptional specificity and sensitivity. LC-MS is ideal for polar and non-volatile compounds in biological systems, while GC-MS suits volatile derivatives and clinical fluids. Together, these methods reveal galactose distribution, isotopic patterns, and structural variants with molecular precision.

    ● Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) Spectroscopy

NMR provides detailed structural information about galactose and its derivatives. By analyzing atomic-level magnetic properties, NMR reveals stereochemical configuration, linkage type, and molecular conformation. This non-destructive technique is particularly valuable for confirming structural integrity in purified glycans and glycoproteins.

By combining these platforms, MtoZ Biolabs delivers integrated carbohydrate profiling and molecular structure validation for both research and production applications.

    Sample Submission Suggestions

Sample Types: Serum, plasma, urine, milk, saliva, cerebrospinal fluid, feces, tissue homogenates, cell lysates, food products, and plant extracts.

Quantity: At least 100–500 µL for liquids or 50–200 mg for solids.

Storage and Transport: Store at −20 °C or below. Ship samples on dry ice and avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles.

Note: Provide details on sample collection and handling. If you need further details, our technical support team is happy to assist and provide comprehensive guidance on sample submission.
