Valepotriate Analysis Service

Valerian is a common plant whose underground parts contain active ingredients with relaxing properties, helping to soothe the body, combat nervous tension, and prevent sleep disorders. Valepotriates are a class of lipophilic iridoids found in various valerian species. These valepotriates are characterized by the presence of an epoxide functional group and three esterified alcohol functional groups. Valepotriates are highly unstable and break down into aldehyde compounds, known as "baldrinals," after hydrolysis. Valerian powder is obtained by drying and grinding the rhizome and roots of the valerian plant. The resulting powder can be used in capsules, herbal teas, or baths to produce liquid extracts. At MtoZ Biolabs, we offer analysis and quantification services for valepotriates in various matrices, providing fundamental research on valepotriates.
