Taurolithocholic Acid Analysis Service
Taurolithocholic acid (TLCA) is a secondary bile acid formed by the conjugation of lithocholic acid (LCA) with taurine, making it an important component of bile. TLCA is primarily produced when intestinal microorganisms convert primary bile acids into lithocholic acid, which then conjugates with taurine. TLCA plays a crucial role in the emulsification and absorption of dietary fats and is key in cholesterol metabolism and maintaining liver health. Abnormal levels of TLCA, particularly when excessively accumulated, are associated with various hepatobiliary diseases, including cholestasis, cirrhosis, and gallstones. Additionally, TLCA has been widely studied for its toxic effects, as it may exhibit cytotoxicity to various cell types. Therefore, accurate analysis of TLCA and its metabolites is critical for diagnosing, researching, and treating liver and bile duct diseases.
