Quantitative Succinylation Service

Succinylation is a biochemical process in which a succinyl group donor (such as succinyl-CoA) covalently attaches a succinyl group to the lysine residue of a target protein via enzymatic or non-enzymatic reactions. This modification introduces two negative charges to the lysine residue, significantly altering the protein's physicochemical properties, spatial conformation, and biological functions. As a highly conserved post-translational modification, succinylation occurs extensively in both eukaryotic and prokaryotic organisms. Research indicates a close relationship between succinylation and acetylation, as many sites of succinylation also exhibit acetylation. This modification is integral to various core metabolic pathways, including the tricarboxylic acid cycle and carbohydrate metabolism, playing a critical role in the regulation of mitochondrial function. Consequently, succinylation is particularly significant in investigating diseases associated with mitochondrial dysfunction.
