Pseudouridine Analysis Service

Pseudouridine (Ψ) is a modified nucleoside and the most abundant post-transcriptional modification in RNA, particularly in noncoding RNAs (ncRNAs) such as Transfer RNA (tRNA) and Ribosomal RNA (rRNA). It derives from uridine through the action of pseudouridine synthase enzymes. Structurally, pseudouridine differs from uridine by having a carbon-carbon instead of a nitrogen-carbon glycosidic bond. The presence of pseudouridine contributes to the stability of tRNA and rRNA structures and plays a crucial role in the function of ncRNAs. Pseudouridine plays a vital role in RNA structure and function. Alterations in pseudouridine levels can significantly impact cellular processes, leading to various diseases, including mitochondrial myopathy and sideroblastic anemia (MLASA) and dyskeratosis congenita. Pseudouridines have been identified as regulators of viral latency processes in human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infections. Therefore, understanding the pseudouridine landscape in RNA can provide valuable insights into the pathogenesis of diseases and potential therapeutic targets.
