NA (Nicotinic acid) is an important water-soluble vitamin with a chemical structure consisting of a pyridine ring attached to a carboxyl group (-COOH). It can be obtained through dietary sources (such as meat, fish, nuts, and whole grains) or synthesized in the body from tryptophan. In terms of biological activity, NA plays a crucial role in energy metabolism, serving as a precursor for the coenzymes NAD and NADP, which are involved in redox reactions within cells. Additionally, it has positive effects on the nervous system and skin health. Metabolites of NA include nicotinamide and nicotinic acid amide, which exhibit various biological activities, including antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, as well as regulating blood lipids. Analyzing the levels of NA and its metabolites in plants and biological samples is significant for several reasons. Firstly, it helps assess the nutritional value of foods and medicinal plants, ensuring that health needs are met for humans and animals. Secondly, monitoring changes under different physiological conditions aids in understanding its role in disease prevention and treatment, particularly in research related to cardiovascular diseases and metabolic syndrome. These analyses provide a scientific basis for developing relevant nutritional and therapeutic strategies.
