Isoferulic acid (IA), also referred to as 3-hydroxy-4-methoxycinnamic acid, is a structural isomer of ferulic acid (FA). Despite their similarities, both belonging to the hydroxycinnamic acid family, IA and FA differ in their biological activities due to the different positions of hydroxyl and methoxy groups on the benzene ring.
