    HK Analysis Service

      HK (3-Hydroxykynurenine) is an intermediate product in the tryptophan metabolism pathway, with its chemical structure formed by the hydroxyl substitution on the kynurenine molecule. HK is primarily derived from the oxidation of kynurenine, which is produced by the action of indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase (IDO) or tryptophan 2,3-dioxygenase (TDO) on tryptophan. HK is highly oxidative and plays a role in oxidative stress responses, potentially causing oxidative damage in the nervous system. Its metabolites include kynurenic acid and xanthurenic acid, the latter of which exhibits antioxidant properties and may provide neuroprotection. Analyzing the levels of HK and its metabolites in plant and biological samples is crucial for studying tryptophan metabolism, neurodegenerative diseases, and related therapeutic pathways.
