GSH Analysis Service

Glutathione (GSH) is a naturally occurring tripeptide composed of three amino acids: glycine, cysteine, and glutamic acid. It plays an integral role in cellular defense against oxidative stress and detoxification processes, where it acts by scavenging reactive oxygen species (ROS) and electrophiles. GSH is mainly synthesized in the liver but is essential for the normal functioning of the immune system, cellular proliferation, apoptosis, and general antioxidant defense in nearly all tissues. The balance between the oxidized (GSSG) and reduced (GSH) form of glutathione within cells and tissues is crucial for maintaining cellular health. Disorders in glutathione homeostasis have been associated with a range of diseases, including neurodegenerative diseases, cystic fibrosis, cancer, and diseases of aging. GSH also plays a role in regulating immune responses and inflammation. Therefore, accurate quantification and analysis of GSH are critical in clinical research and diagnostics.
