Xanthohumol is a natural flavonoid compound that belongs to the chalcone family, commonly found in hops (Humulus lupulus) and certain other plants. The chemical structure of xanthohumol is (E)-1-(2,4-Dihydroxy-6-methoxy-3-(3-methylbut-2-en-1-yl)phenyl)-3-(4-hydroxyphenyl)prop-2-en-1-one. It possesses a typical chalcone structure, including two aromatic rings connected by a three-carbon α,β-unsaturated carbonyl system. The molecular formula of xanthohumol is C21H22O5. It has limited solubility in water but dissolves well in organic solvents such as ethanol and dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO). Xanthohumol exhibits various biological activities, including antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anticancer effects. Its potential antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anticancer, anti-obesity, and cardiovascular protective properties make it highly promising in the fields of food, pharmaceuticals, and health supplements. Therefore, analyzing xanthohumol can provide a comprehensive understanding of its potential, allowing it to play a more significant role in health and medicine.
