Para-Topolin (pT) is a synthetic aromatic cytokinin that has been increasingly recognized for its potential applications in plant biology and biotechnology. Research has shown that pT can effectively promote cell division, shoot proliferation, and root development in various plant species. Additionally, para-topolin is known for its relatively low toxicity and reduced tendency to cause unwanted side effects such as hyperhydricity, which can be problematic in tissue culture applications. This makes pT an attractive alternative to traditional cytokinins like benzyladenine and zeatin, particularly in micropropagation and other in vitro plant culture systems. Like other cytokinins, pT is involved in regulating stress-related genes and pathways, which can improve plant resilience to conditions such as drought, salinity, and extreme temperatures.
