Tandem Mass Tag Proteomics Service
Tandem Mass Tag proteomics is a sophisticated quantitative mass spectrometry (MS) technique designed to enable the simultaneous identification and quantification of proteins across multiple biological samples within a single experiment. Tandem Mass Tag proteomics approach facilitates high-throughput proteomic analyses with enhanced precision and accuracy, making the technical a powerful tool for comparative studies in various biological contexts. To support your advanced research needs, MtoZ Biolabs offers our Tandem Mass Tag Proteomics Service, delivering reliable and comprehensive protein quantification solutions.
Each Tandem Mss Tag (TMT) reagent used in Tandem Mass Tag Proteomics consists of three key components: a reporter ion, a mass-normalization group, and a reactive group. The reporter ion provides the quantitative signal unique to each sample. The mass-normalization group ensures that all TMT tags are isobaric, maintaining identical mass across different tags despite variations in the reporter region. The reactive group, commonly an NHS-ester, covalently binds to primary amines on peptides, facilitating stable attachment during the proteolytic digestion process. Upon fragmentation in the mass spectrometer, the reporter ions are released and detected, enabling precise relative quantification of peptides and, consequently, proteins across the multiplexed samples.

One of the standout features of Tandem Mass Tag Proteomics technology is that it allows up to 16 different samples to be labeled and analyzed concurrently in a single MS run due to its high multiplexing capability. This multiplexing is achieved by using TMT reagents with distinct reporter ions that can be resolved in the MS/MS spectra. By labeling each sample with a unique TMT tag, researchers can minimize technical variability and enhance throughput, as all samples are processed and measured under identical experimental conditions. This simultaneous analysis not only increases efficiency but also improves the accuracy of comparative studies, making Tandem Mass Tag Proteomics an invaluable tool for large-scale proteomic investigations.
