Thiols refer to a type of molecules, which contains a –SH functional group. Thiol is a functional group of cysteine, and play a important role assemble and maintain protein structures through formation of disulfide bonds. Sulfhydryl groups in the active site of enzyme can form non-covalent bonds with substrate, thus increase the affiliation of substrates to the enzymes.
